EXPLANATION:

You must use the rear manual feed path to feed Epson fine art paper. These printers have specific feed paths due to the surface of these types of papers, helping to protect both the paper and the printer's rollers from the dust that is characteristic of fine art papers. This dust can build up on the paper feed rollers and cause feed problems and in addition to this, the dust can collect inside the printer and around the print head which could result in some blocked nozzles on the print head. This, in addition to the difference in the formulation of the ink, is the reason that printers without this paper path do not support this type of media.

Select the paper under 'Media Type' and select Manual-Roll in the printer driver. For Windows, set this under the 'Source' setting, for Mac OS X, select this at the same time as the paper size, e.g. Stylus Photo R2400 > A3+ (Manual-Roll). To ensure trouble-free operation, please refer to your printer's user guide for paper loading and handling instructions.

The types of Epson media which can be loaded via this paper path and the printer compatibility is listed below:

Media name Size Weight Supported printers
SP2100 R1800 R1900 R2400 R2880
Epson WaterColor Paper (Radiant White) A3+ 188 g/m2 Y Y Y Y Y
Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper A3+ 260 g/m2 Y* Y Y Y Y
Epson UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper A3+ 325 g/m2 X Y Y Y Y
*SP2100 - One sheet at a time using the matte board feeder.

Notes Icon Note:

The Stylus Photo 2100 supports WaterColor Paper (Radiant White), when fed via the Manual paper path. Select Manual Sheet Feed Slot as the 'Paper Source' in the driver. This can be selected via the Paper tab in Windows, or as 'Stylus Photo 2100 (Manual)' in Mac OS X.

The Stylus Photo R2400 and R2880 each have a thick rigid media path at the front of the printer which supports rigid media of 1.3mm thickness (from size 20 x 25 cm (8 x 10 in) to A3+). This should not be used to feed the papers mentioned above as the platen gap is too wide and can result in an overspray of ink around the edge of the printed image. Instead, this path can be used to feed and print onto Epson's Enhanced Matte Poster Board (load one sheet at a time). The Stylus Photo 2100 also supports this media.

The recommend driver settings are stated below. To ensure trouble-free operation, please refer to your printer's user guide for paper loading and handling instructions.
